SARAH ROSSY AND POP MONTREAL PRESENT:
LUCID
Album Launch | September 25, 2025 | Le Ministère, 9:30PM
The production of this album began in 2017, in the first phase of my music career as I blindly navigated the music industry with little guidance. My band at the time died of patriarchal causes; a slow burn of being simultaneously preyed on, dismissed, and controlled by powerful men.
I left the pop world and my career took a deep dive into the warm and inviting arms of the experimental music community, where the intersections of my identity were seen as strengths and my vulnerability was seen as tender.
Last summer, I stared at the ghost of my songwriting past in the eyes. Finishing this album became an urgent and necessary step to honour this major part of my life, and share this story with other young artists and the world.
I headed to Brooklyn to bring this record to the finish line with producer and multi-instrumentalist Jack Broza. In 4 whirling days, we finished the album. LUCID’s 12 songs weave influences from folk, pop, and experimental songwriting, and capture an intimate snapshot of the innocence of youth. Recent layers of experimental production reclaim a unique shade of creative freedom from the systems that tried to stifle it.
Finishing this album took the form of a retroactive mentorship project, reflecting healing-as-practice. These songs, first conceived in raw, unfiltered youth, were nurtured to the finish line with eight years of wisdom and a community that grew from the ruins.
Revisiting this music felt like flipping through an old diary, only to find that my younger self and I still share the same beating heart.
